OVERVIEW
Equivalent to two city blocks in length, the WJAC includes two basketball courts, international squash courts, a wrestling room, three courts which can be used for tennis or volleyball, a suspended 1/10 mile indoor track, and an ergometric training room for crew. The 2002 addition to the athletic center includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, an athletic training room, additional international squash courts, and space for aerobics and dance. We’re excited to host the Revolution Volleyball Camps at Choate Rosemary Hall. Join us and improve your volleyball skills this summer!
Camp is open to all ages and ability levels. Each camper will be assessed and grouped with campers of similar age and ability levels. Adjustments to the groups may be made throughout the week to provide campers with opportunities to train with and compete against different players. Drills, games, and scrimmages are designed to help each camper learn, improve, and have fun!
Camp Director
Brendan McGourn joined the Fairfield University Volleyball staff as an Assistant Coach in April of 2023. McGourn spent eight years as an assistant at Yale University and also coaches at Northeast Volleyball Club in Norwalk. On the court, McGourn will direct the Fairfield setters and manage the Stags’ blocking scheme.
During his tenure at Yale, McGourn was a part of four Ivy League Championship teams. The Bulldogs were 102-43 overall and 66-17 in the Ancient Eight with McGourn on the sidelines. In addition to on-court instruction, he was also responsible for team travel, individual and team practice planning, and worked directly with athletics marketing, promotions and alumni relations.
“Brendan is an experienced, knowledgeable coach who will be able to take the reins in several areas of the program with little training or guidance from me,” said Somera. “His skill set complements mine well, and I’m excited to work with him to shape the program into one that blends our strengths and brings out the best in our student-athletes.”
As a coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeast VBC, McGourn has secured a bid to the Junior National Championships for his squad in each of the last two seasons. The club has helped to develop numerous student-athletes who have gone on to play at the Division I level, including recent commitments to UConn, Northeastern, Fordham and Army West Point.
McGourn won back-to-back NCAA Division III National Championships as a student-athlete at Springfield College in 2011 and 2012. After graduating from Springfield in May of 2013, he joined the coaching staff and helped lead the Pride to a third consecutive national title that fall.
